Ajman is the smallest and poorest of the emirates in the United Arab Emirates. Capital: Ajman. It has an estimated area of 100sq. mi. (250 sq. km.). Ajman's first act as an autonomous entity was entering into a treaty with Great Britain in 1820. On December 02, 1971 Ajman became one of the six original members of the United Arab Emirates.

Obverse: "راشد بن حُمَيد النّعَيمي" (Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi) written at the top section. Bust of Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, facing straight within center circle. Dates "١٩٧٠" (1970) written at the left side and "١٣٨٩" (1389) written on the right sides of Sheikh Rashid's head; both within center circle. Value "١/٢ ٧" (7½) written clockwise at the right side and "ريَال" (Riyal) written clockwise at the left side. "RASHID BIN HUMAID AL NA'IMI" written at the bottom section.

Reverse: "حُكُومَة عَجمَان وَتوابعُهَا" (Government of Ajman and its dependencies) written at the top section. One Star on each left and right sides. Sand Gazelle (Gazella marica) running left within center circle. Denomination "7½" written above the Gazelle and "RIYALS" written above the Gazelle; within the center circle. "GOVERNMENT OF AJMAN & ITS DEP." written at the bottom section. Mintage: 4,350 (mint sets) + 650 (Proof sets). Minted Years: One year type. Ruler: Rashid Bin Humaid al-Naimi (1928-1981).
