American Samoa
(Samoan: Amerika Samoa or Samoa Amelika) is an unincorporated territory of
the United States located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of the
sovereign state of Samoa. The main (largest and most populous) island is
Tutuila, with the Manu?a Islands, Rose Atoll, and Swains Island also
included in the territory. It was administrate by Commandants from 17 Feb
1900 to 30 Jan 1905, then Governors since 30 Jan 1905.

Aifili Paulo Lauvao (December 24, 1919 - August 1, 2002), was governor of
American Samoa (03 Jan 1985 - 02 Jan 1989 and again from 03 Jan 1993 - 03
Jan 1997). The founder of the U.S. commonwealth's
Democratic Party, he had a long career in education administrator, the
legislature and the judiciary in American Samoa. He was the
38th and 40th Governor of American Samoa.
