Eregion is a
Second Age realm settled by Elven-folk. Initially a copper "ONE LADY"
undated coin was issued featuring the Lady of Goldenwood within flora. The
other side of the coin had stylized map of the Goldenwood with 18 spearheads
pointing outwards as border. It was struck on an untrimmed planchet.. It
also existed as holed for pendants. Mintage: 400 pieces. |

series of four coins in leaf shape were introduced in 1070 SA. |

LEAF 7.10g Niobium, green anodized. Obverse: Leaf veins with legends verse
of a Noldorian verse ancestral to the Hymn of Rivendell. Inscription:
GILTHONIETH, A! ELBERIN! / SILTHERN PENDAAR MIRUIN / MENELLO CALMAUR
ELENHOTH ! (Star-kindler, O Elbereth ! white shining slants down like the
Silmarils from the heavens - the radiance of the star-hos). Reverse: Leaf
veins with legend in Noldorian written in the Angerthas Moria. Inscription:
DI-CELEBRIMBOR ARAN EREGION TEGILBOR NIN ECHANT CORONOR MINEGRAASTEN IEN
NELEDHEN (Under Celebrimbor, lord of Eregion Tegibor made me in the
eleventieth year of the third yen). Mintage: 140 pieces. |
This coin is
also known as the Spring Leaf of Holly In Mythril. A "mythril" coin in the
shape of a Holly leaf from the Elfin realms, dated 1314 of the second age. |
Similarly
SUMMER LEAF 5.30g in Brass (Mintage: 550 pieces), FALL LEAF 7.00g Copper
(Mintage: 700 pieces) and WINTER LEAF 7.90g .925 Silver (Mintage: 120
pieces) were produced in the same year with the same above mentioned
inscriptions. |
