Coinage: 1992 - 1996 |
under President:
Shankar Dayal Sharma |
|
Currency: |
The Indian rupee (sign: ₹; code: INR) is the
official currency of the Republic of India. The rupee is subdivided into 100
paise (singular paisa), though as of 2018, coins of denomination of 100
paise or one rupee is the lowest value coin in use. The issuance of the
currency is controlled by the Reserve Bank of India. The Reserve Bank
manages currency in India and derives its role in currency management on the
basis of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The rupee is named after the
silver coin, rupiya, first issued by Sultan Sher Shah Suri in the 16th
century and later continued by the Mughal Empire. |

regular diamond mint mark and can be distinguished from circulation issues
only by their proof-like finish. From 1969 proofs carry the capital B mint
mark. Some Bombay issues after 1969 have a proof-like appearance although
bearing the diamond mint mark of circulation issues. Beginning in 1972
proofs of the larger denominations - 10, 20 and 100 rupees -were partly
frosted on their main features, including numerals. From 1975 all proofs
were similarly frosted, from the 1 paisa to 100 rupees. Proof-like issues
are often erroneously offered as proofs. |

Type 2 has Large Ashoka with Security edge. KM#155.2 has
Reeded edge which were produced by Hyderabad and Mumbai (Bombay)
mints only. The International Labour
Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency whose mandate is
to advance social justice and promote decent work by setting
international labour standards. It was formed
on 29 October 1919. It was the first specialised agency of
the UN. The ILO has 187 member states: 186 of the 193 UN member
states plus the Cook Islands are members of the ILO. The tripartite
structure is unique to the ILO where representatives from the
government, employers and employees openly debate and create labour
standards.
The International Labour Office is the permanent secretariat of the
International Labour Organization. It is the focal point for
International Labour Organization's overall activities, which it
prepares under the scrutiny of the Governing Body and under the
leadership of the Director-General.
The ILO employs some 2,700 officials from over 150 nations at its
headquarters in Geneva, and in around
40 field offices around the world. Among these officials, 900 work
in technical cooperation programmes and projects.
In 1969, the ILO received the Nobel Peace Prize for improving
fraternity and peace among nations, pursuing decent work and justice
for workers, and providing technical assistance to other developing
nations. Fifty years later to mark the organization's centenary, it
convened a Global Commission on the Future of Work, whose report,
published in January 2019, made ten recommendations for governments
to meet the unprecedented challenges of a changing world of work.
Those included a universal labour guarantee, social protection from
birth to old age and an entitlement to lifelong learning.
The International Labour Organization has developed a system of
international labour standards aimed at promoting opportunities for
women and men to obtain decent and productive work, in conditions of
freedom, equity, security and dignity. |

Anniversary of "Food and Agriculture Organization" (FAO)
1945-1995. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United
Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and
improve nutrition and food security. Its Latin motto, fiat panis,
translates to "let there be bread". Founded on
16 October 1945, the FAO is the oldest existing agency of the
U.N.
The FAO is headquartered in Rome, Italy
and maintains regional and field offices around the world, operating
in over 130 countries. It helps governments and development agencies
coordinate their activities to improve and develop agriculture,
forestry, fisheries, and land and water resources. It also conducts
research, provides technical assistance to projects, operates
educational and training programs, and collects data on agricultural
output, production, and development. Composed of 197 member states,
the FAO is governed by a biennial conference representing each
member country and the European Union, which elects a 49-member
executive council. The Director-General serves as the chief
administrative officer. There are various committees governing
matters such as finance, programs, agriculture and fisheries. |

World Tamil Conference. The World Tamil Conference
(Tamil: உலகத் தமிழ் மாநாடு) is a series of occasional conferences to
discuss the social growth of the Tamil language. Each conference is
attended by thousands of Tamil enthusiasts around the world.
Conferences are hosted in various cities in India, as well as world
cities with a significant Tamil population. The conference aims in
promoting the heritage of Tamil language. The 8th World Tamil
Conference was held in 1995 at Thanjavur. It was arranged by Jayaram
Jayalalithaa (24 February 1948 05 December 2016). She was an
Indian politician and film actress who served six times as the Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years between 1991 and
2016. From 1989 she was the general secretary of the All India Anna
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a Dravidian party whose cadre
revered her as their Amma (mother) and Puratchi Thalaivi
(revolutionary leader). Her critics in the media and the opposition
accused her of fostering a personality cult and of demanding
absolute loyalty from AIADMK legislators and ministers, who often
publicly prostrated themselves before her.
Saint Thiruvalluvar: Thiruvalluvar, commonly known as
Valluvar, was a celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher. He is best
known as the author of Thirukkuṛaḷ, a collection of couplets on
ethics, political and economical matters, and love. The text is
considered an exceptional and widely cherished work of the Tamil
literature. Almost no authentic information is available about
Thiruvalluvar, states Kamil Zvelebil a scholar of Tamil
literature. His life and likely background are variously inferred
from his literary works by different biographers. There are
unauthentic hagiographic and legendary accounts of Thiruvalluvar
life, and all major Indian religions, as well as Christian
missionaries of the 19th-century, have tried to claim him as
secretly inspired (crypto-) or originally belonging to their
tradition. Little is known with certainty about his family
background, religious affiliation, or birthplace. He is believed to
have lived at least in the town of Mylapore (a neighbourhood of the
present-day Chennai), and his floruit is dated variously from 4th
century BCE to early 6th century CE, based on the traditional
accounts and the linguistic analyses of his writings. Maraimalai
Adigal gives 31 BCE as the birth year of Valluvar, while Kamil
Zvelebil infers the Thirukkuṛaḷ and Thiruvalluvar are best dated to
around 500 CE. Valluvar has influenced a wide range of scholars down
the ages since his time across the ethical, social, political,
economical, religious, philosophical, and spiritual spheres.[7][8]
He has long been venerated as a great sage, and his literary works a
classic of Tamil culture. |
